Police raid offices of X network. Musk to be questioned
On Tuesday, French police raided the offices of social network X, owned by Elon Musk. The raid follows an investigation lasting approximately one year into allegations of algorithm abuse and fraudulent data collection by X or its executives.
The prosecutor's office noted that it expanded the investigation after complaints related to the Grok artificial intelligence chatbot, which the platform uses.
The new phase of the investigation will also focus on possible complicity in the possession and distribution of child pornography images, as well as violations of the right to image protection through sexually explicit deepfake material.
Musk and former X CEO Linda Yaccarin have been summoned for questioning on April 20. Other employees of the platform have also been summoned to appear as witnesses. X has not immediately commented on the raid or the expansion of the investigation.
The investigation is being led by a specialized unit of the Paris prosecutor's office for combating cybercrime, in cooperation with the French police and Europol.
