A million "Trump homes" to solve the housing crisis in the US, writes Bloomberg
American construction companies are working on an ambitious plan to build nearly one million so-called "Trump homes" with the aim of alleviating the deepening housing affordability crisis in the US.
According to Bloomberg News, the project is based on the construction of affordable homes in the basic category, with financing provided by billions of dollars in private capital.
The news immediately resonated on the financial markets, with shares in major construction companies such as Lennar, D.R. Horton, and PulteGroup rising by five to seven percent at the start of trading. However, the companies themselves have not commented on the proposal, and the White House did not immediately respond to questions from Reuters.
According to estimates, the construction of one million homes would represent an investment of more than $250 billion.
A White House representative said that the administration is not actively considering this plan.
Analysts also point out that implementation would be extremely difficult both politically and logistically and may not gain sufficient support.
