Trilateral peace talks continue in Abu Dhabi
The second day of trilateral talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States began in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, with the aim of moving toward an end to the war that has lasted for almost four years.
According to Ukraine's chief negotiator Rustem Umerov, the talks are continuing in the same format as on the first day, combining joint consultations, work in smaller groups, and subsequent coordination of positions.
The talks were originally scheduled to take place on February 1, but the date was postponed for reasons that, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, were not related to Ukraine. Despite the ongoing dialogue, fundamental differences remain, particularly with regard to Russia's territorial claims.
According to available information, neither side has yet indicated a willingness to make a fundamental compromise.
However, Umerov described the first day of negotiations as businesslike and productive, with an emphasis on concrete steps and practical solutions, not just general declarations.
