Russians claim to have detained a man suspected of shooting General Alexeyev in Dubai
On Sunday, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that a man suspected of shooting Vladimir Alexeyev, deputy head of Russia's military intelligence service GRU, in Moscow had been arrested in Dubai and extradited to Russia.
On Saturday, the Russian daily Kommersant reported, citing a source close to the investigation, that two suspects in the attempted assassination of General Alexeyev were to be questioned.
After questioning, the suspects would be charged, the newspaper reported, without confirming whether this had actually happened.
Alexeyev was shot on Friday in his Moscow apartment building and taken to the hospital. On Saturday, he underwent successful surgery and regained consciousness but remained under medical supervision, Kommersant reported.
