The green revolution in German: they will measure cow gases

Germany wants to significantly accelerate the pace of climate protection, and the government is already working on a comprehensive strategy for 2045. The draft Climate Protection Program 2026 envisages significant emissions reductions, massive public investment, and changes in transport, housing, and agriculture, according to the daily Bild.

A key component is the transition to electromobility—from 2035, only new electric cars will be allowed, and gasoline will gradually become more expensive due to the price of CO₂.

Households are to receive higher subsidies for eco-friendly heating, insulation, and window replacement, with low-income groups receiving additional bonuses. The government plans to expand the rail network and cycle paths and build hundreds of fast chargers for trucks.

Environment Minister Carsten Schneider (SPD) wants, among other things, a program to measure emissions from the digestive process of cows and new breeds of dairy cows that emit less methane.

The program also considers the labor market—it will support the creation of new "green" professions and the use of artificial intelligence in energy consulting. However, the entire package will cost billions of euros.
