Orbán: Conditions for Ukraine are not determined by Kyiv, but by the EU

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán responded to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's statements on Ukraine's accession to the European Union.

On social media, he told him that he was mistaken if he thought that Kyiv could set the conditions for accession. According to Orbán, EU enlargement is a process based on merit and rules set by member states, not candidate countries.

Zelensky had previously emphasized that Ukraine wants to be technically ready for accession by 2027 and also needs a clear date for admission. He claims that without a specific date, Russia could block the process, including through some European leaders.

According to him, EU accession is a key security guarantee for Ukraine and is part of a broader 20-point plan to end the war.
