Geneva to host talks on Ukraine and Iran on Tuesday
Two diplomatic talks will take place in Geneva on Tuesday – on Ukraine and Iran. A source familiar with the matter told Reuters on Friday.
In the morning, the US delegation, which will include envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, is scheduled to meet with Iranian officials. Contacts between the US and Iran will be mediated by Oman, which will send its representatives to the talks as mediators.
In the afternoon, Witkoff and Kushner will participate in trilateral talks with representatives from Russia and Ukraine, according to the source.
President Donald Trump is increasing pressure on the Iranian government after its violent crackdown on protests and has also strengthened the US Navy's presence in the region. At the same time, he is trying to persuade Kiev and Moscow to agree to end Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which has been going on for four years.
