Uber to expand food delivery to other European countries

Uber plans to expand its delivery services to seven new European countries this year as tech groups intensify their efforts in the multi-billion-dollar food delivery market, the Financial Times reported on Sunday.

The US company will launch services in markets including the Czech Republic, Greece, and Romania in a move that it expects to bring in an additional $1 billion in gross bookings over the next three years, the report said.

Susan Anderson, Uber's global head of delivery services, told the newspaper that it was time to "raise the bar, shake things up and deliver more value across the category."

According to the report, this initiative will also affect Austria, Denmark, Finland, and Norway.
