Italians want to help train police in Gaza and Palestine

Italy is ready to help train police forces in Gaza and elsewhere in the Palestinian territories. This was announced on Monday by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, as Rome seeks to play a role in stabilizing the Middle East.

He confirmed that Rome is ready to participate as an observer in US President Donald Trump's Peace Council initiative, with Italy invited to attend the group's meeting in Washington this week.

The council was established at the end of January at Trump's initiative to oversee the temporary administration of the Gaza Strip and will later be expanded to address global conflicts. However, this move has raised concerns among experts that it could weaken the role of the UN.
