Aliens are real, Obama claims. He later corrected his statement.

According to CNN, former US President Barack Obama responded to a question about the existence of extraterrestrials in Brian Tyler Cohen's podcast with a quick series of questions, saying that they are real, but he has not seen them. He added that they are not being held in Area 51 and that he knows of no secret conspiracy.

Area 51, a top-secret US Air Force facility, has long been the subject of conspiracy theories. Allegedly, the remains of a crashed UFO from 1947 in Roswell were taken there for experiments aimed at replicating an extraterrestrial spacecraft.

However, after his words were publicized, Obama posted an explanation on Instagram. He said he was trying to keep up with the fast pace of the interview. According to him, given the vastness of the universe, it is likely that life may exist elsewhere, but the distances between solar systems are so great that the chances of a visit to Earth are low.

He emphasized that during his presidency, he had seen no evidence of contact with extraterrestrials.

Obama has commented on the subject in the past, when he spoke of unidentified objects in the sky whose movement could not be explained.
