Danish King Frederik to visit Greenland
Danish King Frederik X arrived in Nuuk for his second visit to Greenland in a year. He comes at a time when US President Donald Trump is repeatedly talking about the possibility of acquiring the Arctic island.
The visit thus appears to symbolize unity between Copenhagen and Greenland during a period of tension that has also spread within NATO.
Greenland, Denmark, and the US recently began diplomatic negotiations with the aim of calming the situation. After meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the Danish prime minister spoke of constructive dialogue, but also pointed out that Trump's position remains unchanged.
During his stay, the king met with the Greenlandic prime minister and the speaker of parliament, and he will visit a school, the Arctic military command, and the key company Royal Greenland.
