Peskov: Illegal sanctions are hindering trade between the US and Russia
Sanctions against Moscow are hindering the development of economic and trade relations between the US and Russia, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. According to him, the sanctions are illegal and prevent the smooth functioning of bilateral relations, while Moscow is interested in their development.
"Many projects can be included in the program, but to do so, we must revive our relations," he said.
A few days ago, Bloomberg reported that the Kremlin had prepared a memorandum on the possibilities of extensive economic partnership with Donald Trump's administration after the possible end of the war in Ukraine.
The document lists seven areas of possible convergence of economic interests, including cooperation in fossil fuels, joint investments in oil, gas, and critical raw materials, and potential revenues for American companies.
A key point is Russia's return to the dollar billing system, which would mean a departure from efforts to reduce dependence on the US currency. According to the document, this could stabilize Russia's balance of payments and strengthen the position of the dollar.
However, Western officials consider it unlikely that Russia would turn away from China.
