US Secretary of State travels to Israel to discuss peace plan

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Israel next week. He will discuss Iran, the State Department confirmed on Friday.

The US has already assembled extensive military forces in the region amid growing tensions with Tehran.

The department specified that Rubio will be in Israel from 2 to 3 March. He is to discuss other regional priorities, including Lebanon and US President Donald Trump's peace plan for Gaza.

Just in the past few hours, the US Embassy in Jerusalem announced the departure of some of its staff for security reasons.
