Medvedev mocks Trump over Iran strike
Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council and former president of Russia, has attacked US President Donald Trump following the US strike on Iran. He ironically described Trump as a ‘peacemaker’ who, in his view, has once again shown his true colours.
Medvedev claimed that Washington’s negotiations with Tehran were merely a pretext and that in reality no one was interested in reaching an agreement. At the same time, he questioned the long-term resolve of the United States in the conflict, pointing to differences in the historical traditions of the two countries.
According to him, the US has existed for only 249 years, whereas Persian civilisation spans more than 2,500 years. He suggested that patience and the ability to wait for the ‘ignominious end’ of the opponent would prove decisive.
