UN nuclear watchdog reports no radiological impact

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said it had not detected any radiological impact following the US and Israeli attacks on Iran or the subsequent retaliatory strikes in the region. It added that it was closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East in a post on X.

The agency said it was in constant contact with countries in the region and was continuously assessing potential risks to nuclear safety. ‘There is no evidence of any radiological impact so far,’ it said in a statement. However, it did not specify whether Iranian nuclear facilities had been targeted.

The IAEA also called on all parties to exercise restraint to avoid endangering civilians and nuclear safety. It said it would continue to monitor developments and keep the public informed.

Last year, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi noted that Iran had enriched uranium to levels exceeding 90 per cent, but said there were no indications of a military programme.
