Merz called on Iran to end the attacks expecting the theocratic regime to fall

On Sunday, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called on Iran to immediately cease its attacks on countries in the Persian Gulf. He also expressed his belief that the theocratic regime would fall after the military campaign by the United States and Israel.

According to him, it is therefore necessary for Washington, together with its European partners, to begin preparing for future scenarios in the country and the region. Iranians deserve a better future, and many will be relieved to see the end of the regime stated Merz. However, he warned that the killing of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in US and Israeli strikes on Tehran had set Iran on a path to an uncertain future.

Merz also pointed out certain reservations about the actions of the US and Israel, saying that now is not the time to lecture partners and allies, despite doubts.

´There are risks. We don't know how much the region will be drawn into an escalation as a result of Iran's harsh counterstrikes,` the German chancellor said at a press conference. ´Ultimately, we don't know if this plan will be successful,` he said of the US-Israeli strikes, in which Germany did not participate.

Merz set out four goals that now need to be achieved. It would be necessary to ensure peace and stability in the region, force Iran to end its nuclear program and ballistic missile development program, contribute to a stable future for Iran, and help Iranians decide their own fate. He also stressed that Berlin will not tolerate any anti-Semitic or anti-American attacks on its territory.
