Chaos reigns at Dubai airport, tourists unable to get home

The modern international airport in Dubai has been paralysed by chaos following the closure of airspace over the United Arab Emirates. The reason for this are rocket and drone attacks from Iran that have hit the region, writes Bild.

Passengers are crowding the departure halls, nothing is working. People want to leave this otherwise peaceful and orderly country, which has been under rocket and drone fire from Iran since Saturday afternoon, but airlines have suspended flights, and the airspace is closed.

´There is total chaos at Dubai International Airport. Thousands of people are trying to leave the terminal. There are no exits, and the trains between terminals are not working. There are no announcements, no staff,` a German tourist told Bild.

The 30-year-old described how they arrived on Friday and booked a week's stay in Dubai. After the drone attack on a five-star hotel, they wanted to go home as soon as possible. But that's not possible.

´It's a huge logistical nightmare,` commented an insider at an airline in the Persian Gulf.
