Starmer approves US use of British bases in Iran conflict

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that London has complied with the US request and will allow the use of British bases for defensive strikes against Iranian missiles. According to him, this is a specific and time‑limited measure aimed at preventing Iran from launching further missiles in the region.

At the same time, he stressed that the UK did not participate in the recent joint US‑Israeli attacks on Iran, in which Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed, and will not participate in further offensive operations.

Starmer said that Tehran is continuing its attacks and also threatening British citizens, as missiles have hit airports and hotels in the region. According to him, the decision is based on the principle of collective self‑defence and the obligation to protect British lives.

London also insists that the long‑term solution is a diplomatic agreement that would force Iran to abandon its ambitions to develop nuclear weapons.
