Erdogan and Rutte unite on NATO

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte spoke with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday about the situation surrounding Iran and regional security.

Both leaders agreed on the importance of the Alliance’s so-called 360-degree approach to security, which involves being prepared to respond to threats from all directions.

Rutte emphasised on X that NATO is always ready to defend against any threat.

According to a statement from the Turkish presidential office, Erdogan called for diplomacy to be given a chance to bring lasting and sustainable peace to the Middle East. Ankara is also closely monitoring the conflict between Iran, Israel and the United States.
