Pentagon: Iran is weakening, we will extend our strikes

Iran is now firing fewer missiles than at the start of the war, the top US general said on Wednesday. According to him, Tehran’s military capabilities are significantly reduced, while the United States is expanding its attacks on the country’s territory.

‘We will now begin to gradually expand our strikes inland, deeper and deeper into Iranian territory, creating greater freedom of manoeuvre for US forces,’ said General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, at a press conference at the Pentagon.

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said the United States is winning the war with Iran, adding that six American soldiers have been killed in the conflict so far.

Hegseth also confirmed that the US military sank an Iranian warship off the coast of Sri Lanka.

‘An American submarine sank an Iranian warship that thought it was safe in international waters. Instead, it was hit by a torpedo. A silent death,’ Hegseth said.

The Sri Lankan Deputy Foreign Minister said that at least 80 people were killed in the attack on the frigate IRIS Dena, which was returning to Iran from a port in eastern India. Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath added that there were 180 people on board the ship.
