Kremlin says Iran has not requested weapons

On Thursday, the Kremlin stated that Iran had not approached Moscow with a request for arms supplies and that Russia's position on this issue was well known. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that membership in BRICS does not imply a commitment to mutual assistance in the event of armed aggression, as it is a group focused on economic and financial cooperation.

He was responding to questions about whether BRICS countries could help Tehran amid the escalation.

Russia also accused the United States and Israel of trying to drag Arab countries into a wider conflict by provoking Iran to strike in the region.

It claims that it sees no signs that Washington and Tel Aviv are backing down. The Gulf states, allies of the US, have faced missile attacks since Saturday after the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran. According to Moscow, the attacks caused human and material losses.

On Monday, President Vladimir Putin called the leaders of four Gulf states and offered to convey their concerns about attacks on oil infrastructure through his relations with Tehran.
