Kallas: Iran is an ‘exporter of war’
Iran is seeking to escalate the conflict in the Middle East by recklessly attacking other countries in the region, European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said on Thursday.
‘Iran is an exporter of war. Currently, the regime is trying to drag as many countries as possible into this war,’ Kallas told reporters.
Asked whether Iran was trying to draw NATO into the conflict and whether the European Union had a strategy to avoid becoming involved, Kallas accused Tehran of seeking to ‘sow chaos’ in the region and of recklessly attacking other countries.
Kallas said Iran had been significantly weakened and that she saw an opportunity for the Iranian people to ‘decide their own future’. She added that the European Union continues to work through diplomatic channels to ease tensions in the region.
