Greece to send Patriot missiles and fighter jets to defend Bulgaria

Greece will provide military resources and personnel to strengthen Bulgaria's defense after the neighboring country requested it, Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias said on Friday.

He said that a Patriot air and missile defense system battery will be moved to northern Greece to cover a large part of Bulgaria, which is a member of both the EU and NATO and borders Greece to the north.

Two Greek F-16 fighter jets will also be moved north to provide additional protection to Bulgaria. Senior Greek Air Force officers will also be transferred to Sofia to help coordinate defense measures, Dendias added.
