Iran warns Europe it could become a target
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi warned other countries not to become involved in US-Israeli operations against Tehran.
‘Any country that joins the aggression against Iran and stands alongside the United States and Israel will certainly become a legitimate target for Iranian retaliation,’ Takht-Ravanchi said.
The statement comes as the conflict in the Middle East spreads and several European countries strengthen their military presence in the region. France, Greece and Italy have already sent warships to the area.
Most European Union leaders, however, are calling for an end to the fighting and a diplomatic solution to the crisis.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Friday that Berlin and its partners are seeking ways to end the conflict. At the same time, he emphasised that Germany shares the goals of the United States and Israel regarding the security situation in the region.
