X investigates Grok over offensive AI posts
The social network X is investigating ‘racist and offensive’ posts allegedly generated by the Grok chatbot from Elon Musk’s company xAI, Sky News reported.
According to the broadcaster, X and its security teams are urgently examining the chatbot’s possible role in creating hateful and racist content on the platform.
The posts were reportedly generated in response to user requests. Neither X nor xAI immediately responded to requests for comment.
The chatbot, developed by Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI, has recently drawn increased attention from regulators and governments. Authorities are taking action against sexually explicit content generated by the system on the X platform through investigations, bans or demands for additional safeguards.
xAI announced in January that it had restricted the image-editing feature for Grok users. At the same time, it blocked the creation of images showing people in revealing clothing for users in jurisdictions where such content is illegal. However, the company did not specify which countries are affected by these restrictions.
