Khamenei’s son owns London apartments near Israeli embassy

The son of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei owns two luxury apartments in Kensington, London, overlooking the Israeli embassy. According to an investigation by Bloomberg, reported by the Daily Mail, the properties are located on the sixth and seventh floors of a building that also has staff quarters on the ground floor. Their value is estimated at more than £50 million.

Mojtaba Khamenei is believed to have owned the apartments since 2014, but his ownership only came to light after a year-long investigation. The properties are located near Kensington Palace and less than 50 metres from the Israeli embassy.

Experts say such a location could allow the monitoring of the diplomatic mission.

According to the investigation, the apartments were purchased through Iranian businessman Ali Ansari, who bought them in 2014 and 2016 for £16.7 million and £19 million. Documents show that Ansari is the legal owner of the properties and is considered a close family associate.

The investigation also found that Khamenei owns eleven other properties in London’s Hampstead district through Ansari. They were purchased through Birch Ventures Limited, a shell company registered on the Isle of Man.

In October last year, the British Treasury imposed a lien on all 13 properties, including the Kensington apartments, preventing their sale.
