Putin offers to mediate in Iran conflict

Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered to mediate in the conflict surrounding Iran, and the proposals remain valid, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

According to Peskov, Putin has been proposing various forms of mediation and good offices since the beginning of the crisis, even before the military phase began, which could help reduce tensions. He said the Kremlin remains ready to help find a solution if the parties involved agree. However, he stressed that such a process requires multiple agreements and mutual understanding between the parties.

Peskov made his comments a day after a phone call between Putin and US President Donald Trump. According to the Kremlin, during the conversation the Russian president presented proposals that could contribute to a faster end to the war in Iran. However, he did not provide details about the content of the proposals.

Trump told reporters that Putin wants to be helpful in relation to the conflict, but added that ‘he could be more helpful if the war between Ukraine and Russia ended’.

Russia, which has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Iran, has condemned the war started by the United States and Israel against Iran.
