Orbán faces biggest challenge in 16 years as TISZA leads
According to the latest poll, the Hungarian opposition party TISZA maintains its lead over Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz party, although the margin has narrowed slightly.
A poll by the 21 Research Centre showed that TISZA leads by 14 percentage points among decided voters, down from 16 points in January. The party led by Péter Magyar has the support of 53 per cent of decided voters, while Fidesz has 39 per cent.
If elections were held on the basis of these results, TISZA could win around 115 seats in the 199-member parliament, while Fidesz would secure about 78 seats. The right-wing Mi Hazank party would also likely enter parliament.
The election will take place on April 12, and Orbán is facing what is probably the most serious challenge in his 16 years in power.
