Kyiv releases document, blocks Hungarian delegation
Ukrainian media have published a document from the foreign ministry dated March 10 which indicates that Kyiv did not agree to the proposed date for a visit by a Hungarian delegation, Ukrayinska Pravda writes.
In a note addressed to the Hungarian embassy, the Ukrainian side said the proposed date was unacceptable and recommended that Budapest agree a new date through diplomatic channels.
Nevertheless, the issue of the visit became a public dispute after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was not aware of the Hungarian delegation’s arrival and that the trip had been considered private, according to the foreign ministry.
Foreign ministry spokesman Heorhij Tychyj added that the group of Hungarian citizens entered Ukraine under visa-free travel rules.
The publication of the document was a response to statements by Hungarian foreign minister Péter Szijjártó, who accused Zelenskyy of lying and claimed that Budapest had announced the delegation’s trip in advance in a diplomatic note.
