Gazprom loses Swiss court case against Naftogaz
Ukraine’s Naftogaz has announced another legal victory in its dispute with Russia’s Gazprom. According to the company, the Swiss Supreme Court has rejected a motion by the Russian side seeking to overturn a June 2025 ruling ordering it to pay $1.4 billion.
The dispute concerns a debt for gas transportation services. An arbitration tribunal had already ordered Gazprom last year to pay not only the amount itself, but also interest and legal costs.
According to Naftogaz, the verdict confirms the validity of the arbitration decision and rejects the Russian company’s arguments.
Chief executive Serhiy Koretskyi said this was an important step in the long-running dispute between the two energy companies. At the same time, however, he indicated that the decision itself does not mark the end of the process.
Naftogaz said it would continue taking steps to secure the recovery of the awarded amount.
