Trump raises doubts over fate of Iran’s supreme leader

In an interview with NBC News, US President Donald Trump suggested that Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, may be dead.

‘I don’t know if he’s even alive,’ he emphasised, pointing out that he has not yet appeared in public.

‘I’ve heard he’s not alive, and if he is, he should do something very wise for his country, and that is to surrender,’ he stated, while dismissing reports of his death as ‘rumours’.

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, meanwhile, declared on Friday that the new ayatollah is ‘crippled’ following US–Israeli attacks on Iran and described his written statement as ‘weak’.
