Netanyahu posts café video amid Iranian rumours of death

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted a video on Sunday showing him pouring himself a cup of coffee and chatting with an adviser, after Iranian state media speculated about his death or injury.

In the video, filmed at a café on the outskirts of Jerusalem and posted on Netanyahu’s Telegram account, his adviser asks him about the rumours.

Netanyahu responds with a play on the word ‘dead’ – which in Hebrew slang can mean being crazy about someone or something.

‘I’m crazy about coffee. You know what? I’m crazy about my people,’ Netanyahu tells his adviser.

Reuters verified the filming location using archival photographs of the café, which matched the interior seen in the video. The date was confirmed using several videos and photographs from Netanyahu’s visit posted by the café on Sunday.
