The UAE has suspended operations at the Shah gas field

Drone attacks have disrupted operations in the United Arab Emirates’ energy sector, while a separate strike caused a fire in the Fujairah oil zone. Local authorities said no injuries were reported.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said a tanker around 23 nautical miles east of Fujairah was hit by an unknown projectile, causing minor damage to the vessel’s hull.

Another attack targeted the Shah gas field, about 180 kilometres south-west of Abu Dhabi and one of the world’s largest sources of sour gas, marking a further strike on the country’s energy infrastructure.

According to Reuters sources, daily oil production in the UAE has fallen to less than half its usual level since the start of the US-Israeli war with Iran. The decline is attributed to the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which has forced the state-owned company ADNOC to scale back production.

Oil loading at the port of Fujairah, one of the country’s key export terminals, has been suspended twice in recent days following drone attacks, although some operations have since resumed.
