Projectile strikes near Iran’s Bushehr nuclear plant

A projectile has landed near the Bushehr nuclear power plant, according to a Reuters report citing Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom and the Iranian Atomic Energy Organisation.

Rosatom strongly condemned the incident and called for de-escalation.

According to Rosatom and Iranian officials cited by Reuters, no elevated radiation levels or injuries among workers have been reported, easing fears of an immediate threat.

The plant – originally started by a German firm and later completed by Russia – is one of Iran’s key energy facilities. Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation confirmed that the target was an area near the complex.

At the same time, concerns are growing about the potential for the conflict to spread, especially if sensitive nuclear facilities are threatened. Rosatom therefore stressed the need for maximum caution and a political solution to avoid a wider crisis.

An independent confirmation of the incident has not yet emerged from publicly available sources.
