Paraguay ratifies the EU's agreement with Mercosur

Paraguay has become the final Mercosur member to ratify the free trade agreement with the European Union, according to Raúl Latorre, president of the Paraguayan chamber of deputies. The deal has now been approved by all countries in the South American bloc.

Last week, the European Commission began the procedural steps required for the agreement’s provisional application. The move was confirmed to Politico by the Commission’s deputy spokesperson, Olof Gill.

According to available information, the trade agreement could enter into force at the beginning of May.
