Missile fragments fall near al-Aqsa and Holy Sepulchre

Fragments of rockets have landed in Jerusalem’s Old City, close to some of its holiest sites, including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the al-Aqsa mosque, according to Jewish News.

Israeli authorities said the debris came from Iranian ballistic missiles and Israeli interceptor missiles. A large metal fragment struck the roof of a building near the Christian site, while other pieces were found near the Muslim compound.

Israel accused Iran of targeting holy sites in Jerusalem and said it was committed to protecting worshippers of all faiths. No injuries or significant damage have been reported.

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, one of the most important sites in Christianity, has been closed as a precaution since late February because of security risks linked to the war.
