Russia accuses Telegram of fresh legal violations
Russia’s communications regulator, Roskomnadzor, has again accused Telegram of violating domestic laws. According to the state news agency RIA, authorities have long argued that the platform is used to spread illegal or extremist content, which they view as a serious security concern.
Telegram remains one of the most widely used messaging apps in Russia and is therefore subject to close state scrutiny.
The company denies the allegations and has suggested that the pressure may be politically motivated. It claims Moscow is seeking to steer users towards the state-controlled MAX app.
