Vance to visit Hungary to support Orbán
US Vice-President JD Vance is planning a visit to Hungary in the coming days as a clear signal of support for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán ahead of the parliamentary elections.
The vote is approaching and, according to opinion polls, Orbán’s Fidesz party is trailing the opposition Tisza Party led by Péter Magyar.
The planned visit follows a trip in February by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who publicly expressed support for Orbán.
However, the situation is complicated by wider geopolitical tensions – including the conflict over Iran – which could still affect the final plans of the US delegation.
