Israel says it hit Iranian navy in Caspian Sea

Israel said it had struck Iranian naval forces in the Caspian Sea for the first time, in what it described as an extensive operation on Wednesday.

Army spokesman Nadav Shoshani said the air force hit dozens of targets, including missile boats, corvettes, shipyards and command centres, to weaken Iran’s capabilities in the strategically sensitive region.

According to Israeli statements, Iranian naval forces in the area have been ‘largely decommissioned’. Officials indicated the strike was part of a broader, systematic campaign targeting all levels of Iranian military infrastructure in the Caspian Sea.
