Police search Epstein’s New Mexico ranch for first time

The investigation into Jeffrey Epstein in the US state of New Mexico is once again raising questions about his ties to influential political figures and alleged failures by the authorities. For the first time, police have searched his Zorro Ranch, which victims say was used as a site of sexual abuse.

Meanwhile, the state has set up a special ‘truth commission’ to examine not only Epstein’s activities but also his contacts with Democratic Party officials, including former governors and former attorney general Gary King.

Even after his conviction, Epstein appears to have maintained political connections and to have provided financial support to campaigns, although no evidence of kickbacks has been found.

Criticism has also focused on law enforcement, with some arguing that the allegations linked to the ranch were never thoroughly investigated. At the same time, the fact that federal authorities previously ended inquiries without conducting a full search of the property has raised further questions.
