Attack on Israeli city of Arad leaves dozens injured
Sixty-four people were injured after a ballistic missile struck the southern Israeli city of Arad, the Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency service said.
Seven people are in serious condition, 15 in moderate condition and 42 others sustained minor injuries, the Times of Israel reported. Rescuers at the scene continue to search for further possible victims. Dozens of ambulances, along with MDA and Israeli Air Force helicopters, are transporting the injured to hospitals.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country was determined to continue its attacks on the enemy on all fronts.
The Israeli Education Ministry also responded to the attacks on the cities of Arad and Dimona. Minister Yoav Kish has decided to cancel in-person classes across the school system on Sunday and Monday, with teaching once again shifting to distance learning.
Schools had only recently begun to resume teaching after a two-week break caused by the conflict with Iran. They reopened mainly in areas considered at lower risk of attacks, marked in yellow, and only where shelters were available. Despite this, several towns did not reopen schools and fewer than half of pupils returned to classes.
