Trump criticises mail-in voting, but uses it in Florida

Donald Trump used mail-in voting in the Florida special election, despite having long been a public critic of the practice. According to available records, he cast his ballot in Palm Beach County, having described that form of voting as ‘cheating’ in recent days.

He has justified his claims by citing fears of fraud, which experts say are rare. Trump is also pushing for the passage of the SAVE America Act, which would tighten voter registration rules and make proof of US citizenship mandatory.

The proposal also includes other controversial measures, such as limiting vote-by-mail to exceptional circumstances.

The White House argues that the president is entitled to use existing exemptions, as he is a registered voter in Florida. However, this is not the first time Trump has voted by absentee ballot – he has done so in the past.
