FBI: evidence destroyed after Epstein’s death in prison

A few days after Jeffrey Epstein’s death at New York’s Metropolitan Correctional Center, serious allegations of possible evidence destruction emerged. According to testimony from inmates and guards, bags filled with shredded documents were removed from the building in what appeared to be unusual quantities, the Miami Herald reports.

The incident was reported to the FBI, but by the time agents attempted to investigate, the material had already been removed. At the same time, some official prisoner records from before Epstein’s death were found to be missing, reinforcing doubts about the transparency of the authorities’ actions.

The case has been accompanied by a number of parallel investigations, ranging from the circumstances of his death to possible obstruction of justice or corruption within the prison system. Although the medical examiner ruled the death a suicide, some experts, including the experienced pathologist Michael Baden, have pointed to signs that, in their view, are more consistent with strangulation.

The investigation has also been marked by further irregularities, including superficial witness interviews and the transfer of the case to an office without prosecutorial powers. Overall, the Epstein case leaves more questions than answers, with several key circumstances appearing to remain unresolved.
