Rosatom evacuates staff after Bushehr incident
The situation at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant is moving towards a worst-case scenario, according to Alexei Likachev, head of Russia’s state-owned nuclear company Rosatom.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that the site was struck by a projectile that landed near an operational reactor. Although the incident caused no casualties, it has significantly heightened concerns about the safety of the facility.
Rosatom has initiated the next phase of evacuating its staff. Dozens of workers have already departed towards the Armenian border, while other groups are preparing to leave. According to available data, around 300 employees remain on site, with numbers expected to fall further.
Construction of new units involving Rosatom was suspended following the outbreak of the conflict between the US, Israel and Iran.
