Trump’s son helps expose attack, Russian jailed
A British court has sentenced 22-year-old Russian Matvey Rumiantsev to four years in prison for attacking a woman in London. Barron Trump played a key role in identifying the perpetrator. The son of the US president witnessed the assault during a video call with the victim and subsequently contacted the police.
According to the court, Barron Trump saw the attacker beating and humiliating the woman and recorded the incident. Despite being in the United States, he arranged for emergency services to be called and informed them of the situation.
The victim sustained multiple injuries during the attack, including bruises, scratches and hair loss. She also contacted the police herself. Rumiantsev was found guilty of assault and obstruction of justice and was acquitted of charges of rape and intentional strangulation.
He received two-year sentences for the two offences, to be served consecutively, resulting in a total of four years’ imprisonment. In handing down the sentence, the judge also highlighted the role of Barron Trump, who he said acted responsibly and contributed to the police response.
