Houthis confirm attack on Israel

For the first time, Yemen’s Houthi movement has acknowledged a direct attack on Israel in the current conflict, which also involves the US and Iran. In doing so, the group has effectively entered a wider war and signalled that tensions in the Middle East may intensify further.

Israel has previously reported attempting to intercept a missile fired from Yemen.

The Houthis say their rocket salvo is a response to continued attacks on infrastructure in Iran, Lebanon, Iraq and the Palestinian territories.

They have also stressed that they do not plan to halt their operations until, in their words, the ‘aggression’ on all fronts is over.
