Reform UK leads in the polls as thousands protest in London

On Saturday, London saw a large public mobilisation against what organisers described as the growing influence of extremism. Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in a march organised by the Together Alliance, with estimates suggesting that up to 30,000 took part. The demonstration was among the largest of its kind in recent years.

Protesters focused largely on criticism of Reform UK and its leader, Nigel Farage, who, according to polls, is currently leading in political support. Migration was also a prominent issue, as anti-immigration rhetoric remains one of the party’s central pillars.

Foreign symbols, including pro-Palestinian and Iranian flags, were visible at the march, pointing to wider geopolitical undercurrents. Representatives of other parties, including Green Party deputy leader Zach Polanski, also took part. The protest reflects both the increasing polarisation of British politics and growing pressure on Keir Starmer’s government.(reuters)
