Attacks in Lebanon knock out hospitals, paramedics also killed

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of the serious consequences of attacks on health facilities in southern Lebanon. In five separate incidents, nine paramedics were killed and seven others injured. According to WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the attacks affected medical teams in various villages, severely limiting their ability to provide assistance.

The situation is increasingly critical as repeated strikes have crippled the health infrastructure in the region. Four hospitals and dozens of health centres have had to be closed, with others operating on a limited basis.

The WHO is indirectly highlighting the growing risk to the civilian population who may find themselves without access to health care. At the same time, attacks on health facilities raise questions about compliance with international humanitarian law in the conflict area.
