Russian strike on Kramatorsk leaves three dead, 13 wounded

A Russian attack on the town of Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraine left three people dead and 13 wounded on Sunday, police said. It was one of several strikes along the frontline.

Ukraine’s national police said a 13-year-old boy was among the dead. In a statement, it said Russian forces used a roadside bomb in the attack.

Kramatorsk was targeted again two hours later. Other towns hit included nearby Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka and Sloviansk, which lies further north.

Kramatorsk and Sloviansk are both heavily defended towns located in the so-called ‘fortress belt’. They are seen as key targets in Russia’s slow westward advance to seize the Donetsk region.

Reuters could not independently verify the reports from the battlefield.
