Zelenskyy: Russia shared US base images with Iran

According to NBC News, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claims Russia repeatedly took satellite images of a US base in Saudi Arabia shortly before the Iranian attack.

He said this was a clear sign of preparation for the attack and evidence that Moscow is sharing intelligence with Iran. Zelenskyy spoke of ‘100 per cent’ certainty, but the available evidence has not yet been independently verified.

The Iranian attack wounded several US soldiers, though their condition was not serious.

At the same time, Zelenskyy warned against the possible redeployment of US anti-missile systems from Ukraine to the Middle East, which he said would weaken Kyiv’s defences. The conflict between Iran and the US, he said, plays into Russia’s hands, as it benefits from higher oil prices and the weakening of sanctions.

Moreover, the new war further complicates peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, which had already reached an impasse.
